3 Tips for Pizza Delivery Drivers

Check, Double Check Your Ticket

If there is one thing you can do as a delivery driver to lessen your tip or to guarantee a lesser tip for future visits, it’s forgetting something that the customer ordered. It’s embarrassing, a waste of a trip, and really unprofessional. The pain you’re likely feeling after you hand over the food and the customer says, “I’m supposed to have a salad, too” or “Where’s my soda?” is just the pain of knowing there is no one or no to blame but yourself. You took off from the restaurant before checking your ticket to make sure you had everything. Some restaurants have someone check it for you and hand the order to you when it’s done, but it never hurts to double check. You’ll be thankful you did when you take a few deliveries when you forgot something. You don’t want to be the delivery driver that customers remember as “The One Who Forgot My _________.”

Keep an Envelope for Money at the Restaurant

Some people may laugh, but delivering pizzas can be a really dangerous job, depending on the area in which you’re delivering. Think about it: You’re alone, you’re not the most familiar with the neighborhood, and your bank bag is full of money from previous deliveries. You’re a prime target for a mugging. Every job I’ve had as a pizza delivery driver told me that if I got robbed, the restaurant would only cover my start-up cash. Everything else, I would owe. If you keep an envelope at the restaurant, you can put the money into it when you return from a delivery so you aren’t carrying any more than the start-up cash. Just make sure customers know that you won’t be able to break a one-hundred dollar bill or anything like that.

Always Be Aware of Other Establishments’ Wages

There is nothing wrong with keeping up with other establishments’ wages for their delivery drivers. As a delivery driver, if you know the area well, you’re qualified anywhere in that area. There is no shame in leaving one restaurant for another if they are going to pay you more. Delivery driving is a cut-throat business and to make good money, you’ve got to be willing to jump ship if needed. If you really want to stay where you are, but find out a different restaurant is paying delivery drivers more, ask your boss to match the wages. They’ll likely understand. It’s a business and everyone has to do what’s best for them in order to make money. integrasi aplikasi
